Intended for analytically trained Child & Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapists registered with the Association of Child Psychotherapists

- Development across the adult lifespan
- Continuities and differences between childhood, adolescence, and adulthood
- Clinical implications for working with adult patients
Course Structure:
Blended learning: online and in-person
- Ten weekly online seminars Fridays: 9.30am – 10.45am (Not on Friday 30th October)
- In person study day Saturday 14th November 2026 at BTPP Includes a lecture, theory papers, a clinical seminar and opportunity to meet tutors and fellow participants
- Can be taken as
- a stand alone module or
- as part a module within the Modified Adult Psychoanalytic Training
Course Overview:
This short course explores psychoanalytic understandings of adulthood, with particular attention to clinical work with parents and young adults (aged 18–25).
The course has proved invaluable for experienced ACP registered practitioners who are working with parents and young adults.
It also serves as an essential introduction and bridge to adult clinical work.
Seminars provide opportunities to explore the terrain of adulthood through clinical papers and discussion.
